National Corvette Caravan returns to
Bowling Green in 2009!

All Roads Lead to Bowling Green!

An endless line of Corvettes and a myriad of your fellow Corvette enthusiasts filling the roads and highways crossing the country seeing new sites and meeting new people, making new friends; this is life on a National Corvette Caravan and you can join in the fun, share the excitement and be part of one of the largest moving car events recorded. Caravans will depart from various locations during the last weeks of August 2009, all timed to arrive for the National Corvette Museum's 15th Anniversary Celebration on September 3-5, 2009.

In 3 previous caravans, thousands of Corvette devotees joined together from all over the globe to enjoy the experience, live the Corvette Lifestyle, create history and celebrate a unique Museum event. Labor Day weekend 2009 will mark the National Corvette Museum's 15th Anniversary; a period of time in which it's grown from a mere dream to the comprehensive organization you see today - the "Gateway to all things Corvette." Whether it's shows, fun events, archives, deliveries, track schools, corrals or just a casual visit, the Museum offers a varied experience, one that is unique within the automotive world. Add to that a road trip to top all others and you have the best 2 weeks you can imagine in 2009.

Planning for the Caravan has been underway for over a year and most of the route Captains have been designated. Shortly we will be opening complete web pages for each of the caravan routes. As we move through the year, the Captains will start adding details of their specific caravan pages and you will be able to see all of the exciting activities that these volunteers will be setting up along the various routes. In addition to the web pages, we will be opening registration for the Caravan. At that time you will find a link from this page to registration along with links to the various caravans. In the meantime keep watch on this page and also make sure you are signed up for eNews to keep current on the latest news.

Southern California & Southern Nevada

SoCal gears up for another Caravan

(West Covina, CA, May 3, 2007) The SoCalCar Organizing Team is well into planning the Southern California Section of the 2009 National Corvette Caravan.

With the possible exception of the caravans out of the Pacific Northwest, the SoCalCar is typically one of the longest sections of the National Corvette Caravan. In the past, the trip has departed from a location in the Inland Empire, generally followed Interstate 40 and taken four days.

The "Commander's Council," the core of the SoCalCar Team had it's first meeting on March 31st and the most important agenda item was a significant amount of input from Caravanners, via direct contact with the Council or through our web survey, that a five-day trip might be a better choice than the four-day caravans we did in 1999 and 2003. While no decision has been made as yet, the Council is seriously considering the change.

Besides opinions on length and route, SoCalCar O.T. is looking for input from Caravanners who were with us in 2003 on a variety of topics. If you're considering joining us for 2009, please take the time to fill-out our survey form by using the link below. The information received from these surveys will be used to plan the '09 event.

SoCal Departure 2003
With Capt. Hib Halverson driving the lead car, the Southern California Caravan
rolls out of the California Speedway on June 22, 2003, headed to Bowling Green.
The "SoCalCar," started with 180 cars and grew to over 200 as it crossed
Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico.
What can a Caravan customer expect if he/she chooses to join the SoCalCar on the 2009 National Corvette Caravan? Plenty of driving your Corvette, that's for sure. In addition, some hallmarks of past Southern California Sections will probably repeat, such as: a racetrack departure, a party and driver's meeting the night before the departure, local feeder caravans (probably originating from either San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara and San Diego), the famed "SoCalCar Route Book", social events each night, freebies and goody bags, lunch stops and, most importantly, the camaraderie with your old Caravan friends and new friends you're going to meet.
