SoCal gears up for another
Caravan
(West Covina,
CA, May 3, 2007) The SoCalCar
Organizing Team is well into
planning the Southern California
Section of the 2009 National
Corvette Caravan.
With the
possible exception of the caravans
out of the Pacific Northwest, the
SoCalCar is typically one of the
longest sections of the National
Corvette Caravan. In the past, the
trip has departed from a location in
the Inland Empire, generally
followed Interstate 40 and taken
four days.
The
"Commander's Council," the core of
the SoCalCar Team had it's first
meeting on March 31st and the most
important agenda item was a
significant amount of input from
Caravanners, via direct contact with
the Council or through our
web survey,
that a five-day trip might be a
better choice than the four-day
caravans we did in 1999 and 2003.
While no decision has been made as
yet, the Council is seriously
considering the change.
Besides
opinions on length and route,
SoCalCar O.T. is looking for input
from Caravanners who were with us in
2003 on a variety of topics. If
you're considering joining us for
2009, please take the time to
fill-out our survey form by using
the link below. The information
received from these surveys will be
used to plan the '09 event.

With Capt. Hib Halverson
driving the lead car, the Southern
California Caravan
rolls out of the California
Speedway on June 22, 2003, headed to
Bowling Green.
The "SoCalCar," started with 180
cars and grew to over 200 as it
crossed
Southern California, Arizona and
New Mexico.
What can a Caravan
customer expect if he/she chooses to
join the SoCalCar on the 2009
National Corvette Caravan? Plenty of
driving your Corvette, that's for
sure. In addition, some hallmarks of
past Southern California Sections
will probably repeat, such as: a
racetrack departure, a party and
driver's meeting the night before
the departure, local feeder caravans
(probably originating from either
San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara and
San Diego), the famed "SoCalCar
Route Book", social events each
night, freebies and goody bags,
lunch stops and, most importantly,
the camaraderie with your old
Caravan friends and new friends
you're going to meet. |
