This event was sponsored by the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, So
Cal Region and Bob Jeppesen, Jim Lundal and Roy Queen were Hosts.
The
Cruise Cruise is Two Cruises. First the tour cars take the
Captains for a Land Cruise through nearby Seal Beach and then all
participants load on the boats for a Sea Sailing Cruise in Long Beach
Harbor. This tour was started about 5 years ago with Jim Lundal,
Bob Jeppesen and a Vintage Chev member Roy Queen who was Commodore of
the Little Ship Fleet of Long Beach Yacht Club. All of the
proceeds from the event are donated to a local Children's Medical
Facility in Long Beach.
Beginning in the parking lot at Cerritos Mall and driving to Alamitos
Bay we pick up the boat Captains and crew for the Land Cruise.
After the Land Cruise we park the cars and board the boats of the Little
Ships Fleet and sail away. Different boats got different locations
depending where the visitors want to sail. Upon returning to the
Yacht Club everyone is treated to some food.
Vintage Chevrolet members Dick Dennis (President) and Roy Queen (Vintage
Chev member and our connection with the Little Ships Yacht Club).
Dick is awarding Roy a plaque for assisting in organizing this event for
the past 5 years.
OCVette member Jim Lundal and grand daughter Morgan join for a day on
the sea.
Bill and Teri Kupper's Chevelle above. The Kupper's belong to
OCVettes, Solid Axle Corvette Club and a Chevelle Club.
Above David Walsh perches on a 48-foot "motor home" with no sails.
I believe he is in command. As a previous sail boat owner, David
claims he wanted it easier today.
Another "old salts" Larry and Nancy Ward wanted to participate in the
boat operation. They are preparing to hoist the main sail.
This is sailing at its finest, Jim Lundal's g-daughter rests on the
foredeck while sailing.
Back to Home Port at the Yacht Club.
Another great Cruise Cruise in the books. Thanks to the So Cal Vintage
Chev Club, Roy Queen, Little Ships Fleet of Long Beach and thanks to
OCVettes for you participation.
