OC Vettes is a Corvette Club
whose members own Corvettes of all production year's.
Corvettes were produced from 1953 to the present. The
various models/styles begin with C1's and continue to the
present day C6.
The C1 style (1953 - 1962) cars are what is
referred to as a "solid-axle car". This reference is to
the drive-train rear axle which is the same as conventional
passenger cars at that era, and uses a solid axle differential.
The C2, often referred to as a mid-year Corvette (1963 - 1967)
is the beginning of the "swing-axle" and the Sting Ray
Corvettes. The 1963 saw the beginning of the Sting Ray and
the 1963 coupe had the "split window" rear window.
The C3 (1968 - 1982) consisted of several design changes but
continued with a consistent body style.
The C4 (1984 - 1996) saw a new body style with some changes over
these years. The most significant style change was the
change from a "squared/concave" rear design in 1991 to a more "rounded/convex"
style.
The C5 (1997 - 2004) was a significant style change and
increased the popularity of the Corvette tremendously.
During the C5 era a 50th anniversary model was produced.
The C6 (2005 - Present) saw some styling changes but had
significant handling improvements. The C6 also is the
first era when the power convertible tops reappeared. It
also saw the re-emergence of the headlights from behind the
flipping/opening covers.
